Obituary for Donald Ray Holmes
Donald Ray Holmes, 77, of rural St. Francisville passed away July 15, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Born September 7, 1932 in Lawrence County, he was the son of William Edgar and Mary Theodore (Young) Holmes. He married Lola Howe December 1, 1962 and she survives.
Donald was a member of Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville. He worked for the CSX Railroad and retired in 1995 after 35+ years. He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife Lola of rural St. Francisville, one son Donald Ray Holmes II (Kimberly) of Lawrenceville; one daughter Robin Holmes of rural St. Francisville; three brothers Junior Holmes, Harold Holmes and Garold Holmes all of Lawrenceville; three sisters Daisy Hodges and Lula Thompson both of Lawrenceville, and Anna Ray of Bridgeport, as well as one grandchild, Christopher Holmes.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery
Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church with envelopes available through the funeral home.
