Services for Loreen Lawhead "Dory" Butler, 85, of Tyler are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines 7825 S, Broadway Ave,Tyler, TX 75703 903-561-1789 under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mrs. Butler passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in Tyler.
She was born on May 19, 1925, in Auburn, Indiana, to the late Kirby and Cecil Lawhead. She was one of eight children including a twin sister. She graduated from LSU and taught school for 25 years. Her last teaching assignment was in Big Spring.

Loreen enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She volunteered her time at the TASCA Center in Tyler where she was surrounded by friends and fellow bridge players. She was an energetic, vivacious, fun-loving companion who loved her grandchildren without reservation. That love was easily reciprocated by those who received her adoration. She will be greatly missed by her beloved neighborhood family who played an integral role in her life. Her generosity and sweet spirit impacted the lives of her numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, B.Y. Butler, one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and David Black of Sulphur Springs; two granddaughters, Kaylene and Kaytlin Black; one brother; and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
