Nannie Allen Kirkland Armstrong was born on May 15, 1856. She was the second wife of Isaac Henry Armstrong, the son of Joshua Armstrong and Amanda Lawell oor Lowell. He was born on September 4, 1842 in Grayson County, Kentucky. During the Civil War he served the Union from March 21 1862 to March 29, 1865 in Company A of the 27th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 23rd Corps, Army of the Ohio.

After the war he married first wife Hannah Elizabeth Dunn, the daughter of Moses Dunn and Mahala F. Wilson. She was born on May 15, 1843 in Grayson County. They were married there on January 25, 1866 and were living in Leitchfield by 1880. They were the parents of George W., born on 25 Jan 1867, and Henry P., born on 22 Mar 1868. Hannah Elizabeth Armstrong died on May 7, 1885.

Sometime after her death Isaac married second wife Nannie Allen Kirkland. Isaac H. Armstrong died on July 1, 1924. He shares the stone with his wife Nannie Armstrong in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. She joined him there after her death on May 25, 1939.
