Samuel B. Phillips LT. COMDR USN Retired, 85, of Orange Park departed the life April 28, 2011. Our loss is Heaven's gain, because of his committed life to Jesus Christ. He was an ordained Baptist Minister and a member of Ortega Baptist Church, Jacksonville. He was a Mustang Naval Officer having served in the U.S. Navy from April 1942 until January 1969. He is survived by his wife Sadie Marie Phillips, sons, Samuel Ronald, Dr. Charles Edward and Alan Joseph Phillips, nine grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and sisters Mildred Brisson and Catherine Hurst. Funeral services were held at Ortega Baptist Church, 4865 Roosevelt Blvd. Jacksonville, Monday, May 2, at 11:00 AM, with Rev Flournoy Jernigan officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, FL.
