Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Mr. Harvey Burkett, 84, of Clovis, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1919, in Senath, Mo., to William and Maggie Tillson Burkett.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Venona Fay Spence on May 1,1947, in Florence, Ariz. He had been a resident of Clovis since 1978, moving from Phoenix, where he owned and operated Burkett Wrecking Yard. In Clovis he owned and operated Wholesale Wrecking Yard. He was a member of Prince Street Baptist Church. The family will be at 2904 Sheridan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carolyn; three brothers, H.E., Ray and Bob; and three sisters, Pauline, Margaret & Martha.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Whitley (and husband, Perry Doug) of Clovis and Virginia Pace of Phoenix; three brothers, Woodrow Burkett and Melvin Burkett, both of Hot Springs, Ark. and Doyle Burkett of Phoenix; two sisters, Annie Jackson of Hot Springs, Ark. and Betty Roberts of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Stan White will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Perry Whitley Jr., Harvey Whitley, Anthony Aragon, Mike Riggan, Bill Spence and Luther Brines.
Honorary pallbearers are Adam Aragon, Michael Riggan, Taz Dietz, Perry Whitley III, Sean Hunter, Shane Hunter, Shylo Hunter and Justin Thuran.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
