Birth: Apr. 15, 1836

Death: Aug. 8, 1882

E.C. Jackson married first to Rachael _____ (1838 - 1865) about 1857 they had two children: William H. Jackson (1858 - ?) and Julis Levi Jackson 11 June 1865.
E.C. married second to Saphronia Black(1843 - (1865 - 1868) on 22 August 1865.
E.C. married third to Josephine Black(1843 - 1914), twin sister of Saphronia, sometime after 22 August 1865(probably 1867/8). They had at least seven children: , Henry Andrew "Will" Jackson 1868, John Jackson 1869, Harry(?) Jackson 1870, Hannah E. Jackson 1871, John G. Jackson 1876, Sara Jane Jackson 1876, Jesse Jackson 1880.
The David mentioned below is a son of Josephine she had out of wedlock and was adopted by E.C.
E.C. was a War of Secession Veteran serving in Co. C, 24th GA Infantry:
Jackson, Evans Calloway - Private Aug. 24, 1861. Surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia April 9, 1865. He was a Division Teamster and was wounded by a Minnie ball in the left hand during the Battle of Fisher's Hill, VA fought on 22 September 1864. This is somewhat of a mystery as his unit is listed as on the way to Richmond to defend the capital at the time and did not take part in this battle! Another mystery is that his son Julius was born 9 months later when EC was back with his unit so he must have deserted or at least left his unit and went home shortly (there is no record of his leaving his unit) after he was wounded as he was in Richmond Oct. 7 when he lost his wounded finger to infection in Jackson Hospital, Richmond, VA. He died 8 August 1882 of typhoid fever.
While E. C. Jackson is buried in Lawrence Cemetery there is no marker and the location is unknown. His Memorial maker is in Bethany Methodist Cemetery next to his third wife's grave.
