Randall Lee Alford died on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. He was born on September 9, 1952, to Roy and Gladys (Oles) Alford in Fairmont, MN. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated from Central High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and studied helicopter mechanics. He resided in the state of Washington for the remainder of his life.
His most recent job as a heavy equipment operator gave him pride and a sense of accomplishment. Although his life was cut short by his illness, he continued to work long hours and live each day to its fullest and never found time to complain or dwell on the negative aspects of his illness. He will be missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy; and his sister, RayEtte.
He is survived by his son, Roy; stepdaughters, Melanie and Melinda, from Washington; mother, Gladys Leonardson; sister, Robin (Gary) Hicks; brothers, Tony (Jeany), Tim (Heather) and Roger (Brenda) Hacker, all from Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2008, the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th St. Kent, WA 98042-4868.
