Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Joseph M. Stang Jr., age 81, who died Sunday at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
Joe was born near Grand Lake in Rockville Township to Joseph Sr. and Ida (Dietman) Stang. He married Laura Tautges on August 29, 1953 in St. Mathias Catholic Church, St. Mathias, MN. He worked at the Cold Spring Granite Company for 37 years and in his retirement delivered auto parts for Carquest Auto Parts in Cold Spring. Joe enjoyed being with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in his lawn and he loved playing cards, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish.
Survivors include his sons, Ken (Kitty), Steve (Debbie), Ron (Josie), Jeff (Janet), Doug (Carol), and Gary (Merrilee); 16 grandchildren and 5 ½ great-grandchildren; siblings, Viola Odegard, Iris Philippi, Irvin (LuVerne), Florence Weirens, and Ida Mae (Gene) Rossman, and sister-in-law, Mary Stang.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, and infant brother, and brothers-in-law, Carl Odegard, Al Weirens, and Sylvan Philippi.
