SALEM, N.H. — Eileen J. (Guzowski) Tokanel, 71, of Salem, N.H. died Thursday, April 9, 2009 surrounded by her family, at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, after a long battle with cancer.
Eileen was born and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School. She received her Associate Degree in Business from Merrimack College. Eileen was a secretary for Western Electric in North Andover. While working there, she met Peter, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.
Eileen was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Windham, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #8546 in Salem, Salem Senior Services and she was on the Salem Senior Center Golf Team. She and her husband traveled extensively. Eileen enjoyed golfing and gardening and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter Tokanel, her brothers Robert and Richard Guzowski and her grandson, Shawn Peter Tokanel.
Survived by daughters, Lori Tokanel of Salem, N.H., Dawn and her husband Pete Hall of North Andover; brother, Daniel Guzowski and his wife Margo of Andover; grandchildren, Michelle Hall, Preston Hall, Eric Hall and Melissa Kiver; several nieces and nephews.
