Evelyn Christina Atkinson -- Rochester

The funeral for Evelyn Christina Atkinson will be 1 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Schleicher officiating. Burial will be at 2:15 p.m. Monday in Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake City.

Mrs. Atkinson, 85, of Northgate Plaza, a homemaker, formerly of Zumbro Falls and Lake City, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at Saint Marys Hospital.

Evelyn Christina Fick was born Jan. 8, 1913, in Hyde Park Township, Wabasha County. On March 18, 1933, she married Merle C. Atkinson at Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Lake City and they farmed south of Zumbro Falls until his death on May 30, 1975. Mrs. Atkinson then moved to Lake City where she lived until moving to Rochester in 1990. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Zumbro Falls VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include five daughters, Lucille Michel of rural Rochester, Janice Gilbert of St. Charles, Shirley Nibbe of rural Lake City, Sharon Isenberg of Zumbrota and Connie Siefert of Rochester; three sons, Colin of Oak Center, Glenn of Lake City and Curtis of Zumbro Falls; 26 grandchildren;; 28 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Fick of Woodbury. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ranfranz Funeral Home and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
