Mary Agnes Hamacher Bates, 95, of Champaign, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Meadowbrook Health Center, Urbana.
She was born Nov. 29, 1915 in Richmond, Mo. to Ralph O. Hamacher and Lydia Catherine Lutz Hamacher. She married Ernest Ludwig Bates on Jan. 22, 1938 in Richmond, Mo. He died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother and a sister.
She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Bates (Julie) and Bradford H. Bates (Mary Ann, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, Donald R. Hamacher (Margaret, a sister, Frances Nelson and numerous nieces of nephews.
