He married Wanda Little in 1948. They had three daughters and were divorced in 1964. In 1974 he married Anita Wheaton.
He is survived by his wife; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jarma and Greg Wilber of Keizer, Donna and Ken Baker of Salem; step-daughter, Renee Brunberg of San Diego; and step-son, Douglas Wheaton of Port Orange, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Williams; two sisters, Florence Lam and Vivian Grindstaff and his brother, Vern Butler.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed at Schofield Barracks during the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He earned the Bronze Star and other medals for his service.
