Gloria, 85, of Vestaburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Gloria was the daughter of William and Ethel (Sherman) Stratton.

She married Ross Throop on March 3, 1944 in Texarkana. She was a member of the Vestaburg Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening. The most important things in her life was her family and making sure everyone left her home with a full stomach. She will be remembered by all her loved ones as one of the best cooks ever.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Ross of Vestaburg, a son Doug (Helen) Throop of Grandville, a daughter, Mary Ann (Mike) Keeney of Burke, VA, five grandchildren, Kelly (Todd) Groothuis, Jenny (Ryan) Duffy, Michael (Heidi) Kenney, Andrew (Christinia) Keeney, Laura (Fiancé Tyler Duncan) Keeney and eight great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Art (Virginia) Stratton, Jim (Pat) Stratton, two sister, Jean (Rex) Throop, June (Nate) Sackett and two brothers-in-law, Gerald Throop, and Robert (Mary Lou) Throop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jolly Stratton and four sisters, Arzella Hansen, Vergie Nauta, Freida Jorgenson and Inez Waldron.

A family memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 with Minister Michael L. Keeney officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Vestaburg Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
