Horace Lee Boyd, age 71, died June 2, (Monday) at the Isle of Rest in Monticello, FL after an extended illness. He was born January 9, 1898 in Myakka, FL and had been active at a Methodist Minister for 31½ years, until his retirement in 1962. Her served 24 years in the Tallahassee District of Florida Methodist Conferences service the following circuits or charges: Hosford, Waukeenah, East Madison, West Madison, Mayo, Zolfo Springs, Lake Butler, Archer and Greensboro. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Boyd of Gainesville, FL; three daughters, Mrs. W. B. Smith of Tallahassee; Mrs. Larrie J. Cherry of Lee; and Mrs. Gene Smith of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Lloyd Boyd of Whiteville, NC and Robert Boyd of Glasgow, KY; two sisters, Mrs. Douglas Cross of Plant City; Mrs. Sherman Wilson of Webster; three brothers, George Boyd of Tallahassee; Henry Boyd of Webster; and John Boyd of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; and I great-grandchild. Funeral services were Wednesday at the Lee United Methodist Church with interment in Macedonia Cemetery. - Madison Enterprise and Recorder
