Charles grew up on a farm south of Tipton and received his education at St Boniface Grade School. He was inducted into the Army December 12, 1950. Charles served in the Korean War and was discharged on Dec 2, 1952. On October 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Margie Steichen at the St Boniface Catholic Church. Together they shared 28 years farming, dancing and enjoying their 10 children. Charles was dedicated to his church, family, farm and country. He was a faithful and life long member of St Boniface Church and as his life on earth ended he was clutching his mother's crucifix in his hand. Charles was a member of the VFW, Legion and Knights of Columbus. Charles was proud of his children and enjoyed family gatherings. He always listened and was interested in their thoughts and ideas. Charles' grandchildren loved spending time with him and enjoyed his teasing attention. He has left a great legacy of faith, honesty, determination and courage for all his family members to follow.
