Raymond Paul Aikman, 89, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 under the care of Hospice Savannah. Mr. Aikman was born in Belize and served in the United States Coast Guard and in the Merchant Marines until retiring in 1986. During his retirement he enjoyed sporting events, westerns, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He became a naturalized citizen and was proud to be an American. He was of the Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Queens, NY.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Marie Aikman of Ludowici; four step-sons, Arthur (Jane Marie) Davis of Ludowici, Kelly (Debbie) Davis of Ludowici, Lee (Susan) Davis of Ludowici and Jamie (Karen) Davis of Jesup; two special nieces, Carol Aikman and son Christopher of Brooklyn, NY and Emma (Russell) Jackson of Wilmington, NC; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 beginning at 6:00 pm with funeral services at 7:30 pm at the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Daus officiating.
Military honors will be will be presented by the American Legion Post #311
The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Hospice Savannah for their wonderful care.
