Helen's obituary:

Helen Alice Singleton, 96, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Helen was born September 6, 1909, the daughter of Lenna Grace Mounts Laymon and Willard Lafayette Laymon in Remington, IN. Helen moved to Iowa at the age of ten, and became Valedictorian of her high school. She attended Chillicothe Business School in Missouri on full scholarship, and came to Tulsa, OK, as a secretary, bookkeeper, and administrative assistant in the oil boom. On February 15, 1936, she married Milton James Singleton, and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary prior to his death in August 2002. Helen became known as the "mother of the boys" at the Tulsa Boys Home, where Milton was superintendent for 37 years; and in 1993, she assisted Milton in the writing of a book to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the boys home. She received a Queen of Hearts award from the adult boys in that same year. Helen and Milton began traveling to northern New Mexico in 1936, eventually purchasing and running Camp del Rio in Questa. They settled in Albuquerque in 1967, lived in Lake Alfred, FL from 1978-1986, when they returned to Rio Rancho, NM, having missed the desert air and the mountains. Helen was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a poet, a writer, and an artist and loved politics, the New York Yankees, gardening, fishing, hiking, and wildlife. She had three brothers, Kermit Taft Layman and Earl Willard Layman, and one who died in infancy, Morton Beuerage Layman. Helen is survived by her two children, Milton James Singleton Jr. and Joyce Helen Limbaugh; six grandchildren, Milton James Singleton III, Jennifer Anne Pohle, Amy Elizabeth Romero, Laura Susan Cruz, Shone Lynette Hewitson, and Aaron James Adsit; three great-grandaughter, Emily Christina Singleton, Rita Mae Pohle, and Lillian Helena Cruz; and three great-grandsons, James Matthew Singleton, Thomas James Hewitson, and Benjamin Aaron Hewitson. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Vista Verde Memorial park with Reverend Jimmy Hood officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tulsa Boys Home, P.O. Box 1101, Tulsa, OK 74101-1101, or Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary Rio Rancho, New Mexico 892-9920.

I had lost track of your daughter, Joyce. I did just see your obituary and this memorial. Joyce and I worked together in Winter Haven FL. May you rest in peace. I see you had a long life and had many years of marriage.
