Stanley Bachynski, 77, of Apopka, Florida died Friday, February 23, 2007, in a Hospice Care Center. Funeral services will be held at the Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia, with full military honors, at a later date. Born and raised in Endicott, NY, he was one of five brothers who joined the United States Marine Corps following graduation from Union Endicott High School. Together, they shared almost fifty years of service to our country. After leaving the Corps, he worked as a surveyor's assistant, a surveyor and, in later years, was one of the construction engineers who built the Delaware Memorial Bridge. His work gave him an opportunity to travel much of the world. Mr. Bachynski was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Genevieve (Bebel); brothers William, Leon and Edward. He is survived by his loving companion, Joan McQuaig of Apopka; a brother, Ronald Base, and his wife Carole, of Pinehurst NC; two sisters, Agnes Verry of Binghamton NY; Rosemary Harris, and her husband Henry, of Endwell NY and a sister-in-law, Dolores Bachynski of Johnson City NY. He also leaves numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, Southern Tier Chapter, PO Box 5, Johnson City NY 13790.
