Gladys Anderson, the daughter of Merrit and Mary (Anthony) Cafferty was born May 21, 1918 at Rinard, Iowa and departed this life January 3, 2013 at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 94 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Gladys grew up on a farm near Rinard and graduated from the Rinard High School in 1937.

On December 19, 1939, Gladys Cafferty was united in marriage to Archie Anderson at the Christian Church in Lake City. Two children were born to this union.

After their marriage, the couple engaged in farming in the Lohrville area and in 1961, moved into to Lohrville. Archie farmed until 1988 when he retired and passed away in 1990. Gladys continued to make her home in Lohrville until 2001 when she became a resident of the Shady Oaks Care Center.

Gladys was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City. She was a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge and a Past Noble Grand in Lohrville. Gladys was a farm wife and worked part-time outside of the home. She worked six years at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge and also at Air Electric in Lohrville and other part-time jobs.

Left to mourn her passing are her children; John J. (Marylin) Anderson and Judy (Curt Stern), both of Lohrville, seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two sisters: Minnie (Ezra) Boner of Lake City and Edie Knittig of Ankeny, two brothers: Dale (Carol) Cafferty of Lake City and Loren (Mae) Cafferty of Sun City, Arizona and many friends, nephews and nieces.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband of 50 ½ years, a granddaughter Karen in 1979, four sisters and their husbands; Beulah (Lowell) McClure, Iola (Jim) Staley, Leota (Bill) Kelly and Violet (Wilbur) Stamp, a brother, Lyle (Bud) Cafferty, brother-in-law, Alvin Knittig, two nieces and one nephew.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the Brown Funeral Home in Lohrville.

A celebration of Gladys's life was held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City with Pastor Bill Kanne officiating. Musical selections, "In the Sweet Bye & Bye" and "In the Garden" were sung by Kathryn Myers and accompanied by organist, Nila Spencer. Casket bearers were Kenneth Stern, Logan Mogler, Robert Anderson, Jeff True, Steve Zierke and Richard Monahan. Burial was made in the Evergreen Cemetery near Lohrville.
