HOBBS, N.M. — Services for L.W. "Dick" Dickerson, 84, of Hobbs will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce McBee and Barney Dickerson officiating.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

He died Tuesday, March 12, 2002.

He was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Edith. He married Jonnie Olliff on Dec. 16, 1945, in Amarillo. She died in April 1993. He graduated from high school in Girard in 1936. He served in the Army during World War II as part of the 7th Infantry Division and participated in the assault on the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

He lived in Kermit before moving to Hobbs in 1961. He retired from Gulf Oil Co. after 37 years of service. He was a yard supervisor.

Survivors include four sons, Chad of Cedar Hill, Danny of Monument, N.M., and Lonnie and Donnie, both of Hobbs; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
