Truman A. Fish
CHESTERTOWN-Truman A.
Fish, 78, of Vanderwalker Road,
Chestertown died April 2,1991
at the New York Hospital, Cornell
Medical Center, Manhattan from
injuries sustained in a fire at his
home on Monday, April 1,1991.
Mr. Fish was born in the Town
of Chester on April 1,1913, the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marshall
(Julia Southwick) Fish.
A lifelong resident of the Town
of Chester, he married Viola
Tyrrell on Jury 28,1934. Mr. Fish
had been employed as a truck
driver with the North Creek
Trucking Co., equipment operator,
mechanic and millwright for
the Great Northern Lumber Co.
in Riparius for 10 years before
assuming the position of Highway
Superintendent for the Town
of Chester until his retirement in
1978.
Mr. Fish was predeaced by $m
sons, Herman A. Fish and Alvin
T. Fish; one daughter, Charlotte
L. Fish; two sisters, Evelyn Tyrel
and Dorothy Tyrrell and one
brother, Erwin Fish.
Survivors include his wife of 57
years; four daughters, Mrs.
William (Anna May) Wells of
Ticonderoga, Eleanor Viola
Hayes of FOrt Lauderdale, Florida,
Alice June Linebarier of
Longwood, Florida and Mrs.
Robert (Alma Jane) Sanders of
Queensbury, NY; three sons, Albert
E. Fish of Battleboro, North
Carolina, Stewart A. Fish of
Cody, Wyoming and Kevin B.
Fish of Chestertown; 32 grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren,
several great-great-grandchildren;
and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Services were conducted at
the Alexander-Baker Funeral
Home, Warrensburg with the
Reverend Arthur Northrup, pastor
of the North Creek United
Methodist Church officiating.
The family has suggested that
memorial donations be made to
the Chestertown Emergency
Squad, Chestertown or the Burn
Unit of New York Hospital, Cornell
Medical Center, New York
City, NY.
