James Black, 90, of Fowler, died in Logansport state hospital Monday night after an illness of two months.

A resident of Fowler 38 years, he was a carpenter and retired in 1943.

He was married in 1893 to Mary Alice Hethco and was a member of the United Presbyterian church at Chariton, Iowa

Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Purcell, Rossville and Miss Catherine A. Black, RN, of Lafayette; two sons, Frank E. of Harvey, Illinois and Ralph J. of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Flora B. Chancellor, Morris, Illinois and Mrs. Louise Carter, Eureka, Kansas; and a brother, Frank W. of Los Angeles.
