WORLD WAR I VETERAN
John David Higley was born August 15, 1892 in Port Byron, New York. He was the son of William and Mary/Elizabeth (Treat) Higley. His occupation was Steel Worker.
Enlisted September 27, 1917 at Minneapolis, Minnesota. Assigned to the 22nd Infantry. He was discharged on April 18, 1919 at Ft. Jay, New York. He re-enlisted April 19th, 1919 and was discharged April 18, 1920 at Ft. Jay. A pension was awarded on Certificate No. C 2 759 512.
Mr. Higley never married. He had resided continuously in the state of Washington since 1942 and lived at various addresses in the cities of Auburn, Belfair, Retsil and Bremerton. He was admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home on July 15, 1955. He was discharged in 1958 and readmitted in 1963.
Mr. Higley died July 19, 1965 at the Veterans Home Hospital. His next of kin was his sister, Mrs. L. S. King of Lake George, Michigan. Services were held Friday, July 23, 1965 at the Veterans' Home Chapel. Burial was in the Home Cemetery.
