HANNAH AND THOMAS' CHILDREN:

Thomas F. Anderson b. 2 Oct. 1827 Warren Co., TN; d. 7 June 1900, Roseburg, Douglas Co., OR. Thomas crossed the plains from Newton Co., MO in 1850, settled Deer Creek, Douglas Co., OR. No record of wife or children. His Will listed brother and sister as heirs. He served as a Pvt., Co. H, 2nd Oregon Mounted Volunteers during the Indiana Wars. Thomas applied for admission to the Oregon Soldiers Home, Roseburg, OR on May 23 1899. He suffered from paralysis. He was 72 yrs. He was 5'9", gray eyes, dark hair (at 72?). He was a farmer & single. He was admitted Jan. 11, 1900. He is buried in the Roseburg National Cem., Roseburg, OR; Memorial 3885552.

Rebecca J. Anderson b. 7 April 1829, Warren Co, TN; m. (1) John Deweese (2) Benjamin Kirk; d. 8 Mar. 1907, Seneca, Newton Co., Missouri. Rebecca J. Anderson and John R. Deweese had a daughter Margaret Ellen Deweese. She had 6 children w/Ben Kirk. Rebecca & Ben Kirk are buried in the Kirk Cem., Seneca, Newton Co., MO; Memorial 12618935.

Daniel Lafayette Anderson b. 3 Dec. 1830 Warren Co., TN, m. Mary Ann Fitzhugh 1854, OR; d. 1913 OR. Went to Oregon in 1850 on the Oregon Trail; settled in Douglas Co., OR. Mary's parents were Solomon Fitzhugh & Polly Dickey of Logan County, Kentucky and North Carolina. In 1881, Daniel & Mary moved to Curry Co., Oregon, but he died Jan. 25, 1918 at the Old Soldier's Home in Roseburg. They had nine children: George, John, Evaline, Melvin, Hannah, Nancy, Fizhugh, Solomon, and Phebe.

*Andrew J. Anderson b. 1833 TN. It is believed that he died on the Oregon Trail in 1852.

*Enoch Perkins Anderson b. 4 Sept. 1835, Washington Co., AR (Arkansas), d. 18 Sept. 1908 Douglas Co., OR. He is buried in the Roseburg IOOF Cem., Roseburg, OR. See below link.

*Came to OR in 1852 w/John & Hannah Dodson.
Note that a Mrs. A.J. Anderson is found in the 1852 Oregon Trail Emigrants' List, but no "A.J. Anderson" is found. However, the list also shows a James Anderson who died on the Trail, so perhaps she was his wife. It has been assumed that "Andrew J" was for Andrew Jackson, but now believe his name was "Andrew James Anderson".

JOHN AND HANNAH'S CHILDREN
Nancy Dodson b. 1838 AK, m. John Jackson Whitsett, d. 1886 OR
Margaret Dodson b. 1839 MO, m. Francis Ingram
Martha Dodson b. 1841 MO, m. Thomas May, d. 1920 WA (Our Line; Kate McCarter and Marjorie Pace)
Lydia Dodson b. 1846 MO, m. Jackson Kelly
Samuel H. Dodson b. 1849 MO, m. Martha Hervey, d. 1929 OR

It is remarkable that all 20 of these children survived to adulthood and that most went on to have families of their own. Even more remarkable is that more than half would participate in the largest human migration in history.

Thanks to Kate McCarter and Marjorie Pace of Portland, Oregon for the information contained in John and Hannah's memorials.
