To this union seven children were born, one Mrs Katherine McGinskey, passed away twenty years ago. The surviving children are Joseph Kochly, Mrs. Joseph Yender, John C. Kochly of Minnesota, Mrs. Frances Burkhardt, Anthony Kochly and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller.
Her husband died in Washington, D. C., in 1864, from wounds received while in service during the Civil War. He was a member of Company E., 8th Illinois Cavalry. His demise left Mrs. Kochly a widow with seven children in her care. Right royally did she perform the duties devolving upon her, and the children grew to manhood and womanhood to appreciate her self-denying service.
She lived with her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, until about four months ago, when she moved to the home of Mrs. Joseph Yender. For the past four weeks Mrs. Kochly has been indisposed but was not seriously ill until three days prior to her death.
On April 11th she answered the summons of death, and closed a long and useful life. Funeral services were held in SS. Peter and Paul church Monday morning, Rev. Aug. Wenker officiating.
