Rev. Fr. Alexander Joseph Wytrwal entered into eternal life on March 11, 2011 at the age of 87. Born in Detroit on April 20, 1923, he attended St. Andrew Catholic Grade School and St. Casimir Catholic High School in Detroit. On June 9, 1946 he received his B.A. Degree from St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, MI. Theology was taken at Mount St. Mary of West Norwood, Ohio. Father took graduate courses at Wayne State and the University of Detroit and earned two Master of Arts Degrees in psychology and religious education and a Certificate in Pastoral and Marriage Counseling. He also received a Master of Arts Divinity Degree from SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary. Fr. Alex was ordained May 20, 1950 at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral by Edward Cardinal Mooney, D.D. He served as associate pastor at St. Florian Catholic Parish in Hamtramck; St. Albertus Catholic Parish in Detroit; St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish in Ecorse; St. Christopher Catholic Parish in Detroit and St. Louis the King Catholic Parish in Detroit. He served as pastor at St. Stephen Catholic Parish, New Boston for 38 years from 1967 until he was granted senior priest status in 2005. In state Monday, March 14th, 2-9 p.m. at the Jarzembowski Funeral Home, 18957 West Warren Avenue at Artesian in Detroit In state Tuesday, March 15th at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 18858 Huron River Dr., New Boston at 1 p.m. with continuous overnight vigil until Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m. Rosary and Vespers Tuesday, March 15th at 7 p.m. Father was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph and Nellie (nee: Kadlof). He is survived by his dear brother, Dr. Joseph A. Wytrwal and will be dearly missed by many loving cousins and friends especially Drs. John and Margaret Casey (nee: Sokol). Private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the St. Stephens Endowment Fund. P.O.
