CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Douglas Turner Capra, a lovely man and tender-hearted friend, died Jan. 19, 2011. Born on June 11, 1949, in Manhasset, N.Y., to Elizabeth Turner and Chilean emigre Arnaldo Capra, he graduated from UMass Amherst and made Cambridge, Mass., his home.
An exceptionally curious man, Doug succeeded at many jobs, most recently as an analyst for Omgeo, a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters, yet his true passions lay in music, art, technology and literature. His most endearing quality was making friends who adored him, especially on Cape Cod. Doug spent a large amount of his free time visiting friends in the towns of Wellfleet, Dennis and Hyannisport. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and actively involved in house concerts and live music here on the Cape. Doug had a broad laugh, gentle eyes, and lived his life as a thoughtful, kind, loyal and generous human being. We will greatly miss his intellect and spirit.Donations may be made to WGBH/WCAI Radio in Doug's name.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. in the Bigelow Chapel at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass.
