Mr. Hufford was the railroad passenger conductor on the Wyoming Division of the Lehigh Valley railroad.
He began working for the railroad in August 1868 as a trainman. In May 1884, he was promoted to be baggage master. In June 1890, he became conductor of a passenger train. He worked as a conductor until his death, working more than 45 years for the railroad.
Charles reported that his father was born in Germany.
