On January 2, 2008, Eva Hoffmeyer, age 92 of Onaway, the beloved matriach of the Hoffmeyer family, died at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

The former Eva Hilliker was born on June 16, 1915 to Richard and Frances (Tennant) Hilliker in Allis Township, where she spent her entire life.

On December 1, 1931 she married Donald F. Hoffmeyer, son of William and Agnes (Powers) Hoffmeyer. They were married by Elder Ernest Burt of the R.L.D.S. Church, at the Hoffmeyer home in Allis Township. Mrs. Hoffmeyer enjoyed homemaking and sewing, especially quilt making, and was always ready to help her neighbors when they were in need. She worked for many years at Essex Wire in Atlanta, retiring in 1978.

Surviving Eva M. Hoffmeyer were five daughters, Florence Newsted of Fremont, Elsie Smith of Brighton, Dorothy Painter and Thelma (Aaron) Curtis both of Onaway, and Darlene (Rick) Homkes of Russiaville, Indiana; three sons, Earl (Kristine), Allan, and Roy Jason (Denise) Hoffmeyer all of Onaway. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 19 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 27, 1988; an infant son; four brothers; and three son-in-laws.
