Jens Larsen (aka Jens Larson) was the son of Christian Larsen and Ane Jensen of Denmark. He joined the LDS Church on 11 Feb 1863 and followed his sister Ane Marie to the United States, where he continued to care for her. His wife, Ane Dorothea Anderson Larsen, with their son Hugo, came in May. They also had one daughter, Pauline. Jens was shot to death by indians at what was called "the herd house" built near what is now Milburn, on 25 May 1865 at the very beginning of the Walker War. He had been taking care of the sheep belonging to the community of North Bend (Fairview).

Note: Killed north of Fairview by Indians in the Black Hawk War of 1865-72. Note that the gravesite (L1_60_3) is in Fairview Pioneer Cemetery while the memorial is in the upper cemetery.
