Robert Leslie Stoltz (Bob), 75, left his earthly life on December 18, 2016, after a very short and brave battle of pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 18, 1941 to Leslie and Mary Stoltz of Park City, Montana. At the age of four he moved with his family to Laurel, where he spent many long years of the “fun” life. He attended Laurel Schools graduating from Laurel High School in 1959. After H.S., he joined the army for a short time until he grew to tall (6’8”) and they couldn’t fit him to uniforms or boots. Back home he worked at several jobs before working at United Prestress (which later became Elk River Concrete). He retired in 2002 after 40 years of service.
He met and married Margaret (Peggy) Bradley in 1974. They raised their two children, Leslie and Bobbi in Laurel.
Bob was a very determined, outgoing, fun-loving person. He never knew a stranger and had many, many good friends.
Bob and Peg helped open the new Walmart store in Laurel as greeters until he got infections in his body and ended up losing both legs below the knees in January of 2014. He faced this set back as a new challenge. He never gave up or let it get the best of him. He was very proud of his accomplishments such as walking, growing his vegetable garden, and even getting his driver’s license. During his years at Walmart, he met many great new friends in his fellow associates and “his customers”. He always enjoyed teasing and bantering with everyone!
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Mary, and his son Leslie Phillip in 2004. He is survived by his wife Peggy; his daughter Bobbi (Aaron) Poser; 4 grandchildren, Chase Stoltz, Alex, Preston, and Ellyson Poser; his sister Linda (Bob) Spencer; sister’s-in-law, Ann Powell, Becky (Bob) Tidwell, Jane (Dwayne) Hart; brother’s-in-law, John Bradley, Russ (Kim) Bradley, and Bill (Janice) Bradley; many nieces and nephews, along with many, many friends.
Our family so appreciated all the love and care provided by Dr. Douglas Woerner and the wonderful staff at Laurel Medical Center, Dr. Fiddler and the staff at Frontier Cancer Center, along with the amazing staff of Riverstone Hospice.
The services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Laurel. Graveside services will be immediately following the services at Park City Cemetery. Fellowship will take place back at Our Savior’s Lutheran following the graveside service.
