Chase Boldt (Stephen Chase Boldt) was born on May 7, 1900 in Louisville, Kentucky. After going to high school at Male Louisville, KY. Boldt made his professional Football debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Louisville Brecks. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Louisville Brecks the entire time. Boldt also played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the Louisville Brecks the entire time

Battery F, 138th Field Artillery, was originally organized in October, 1917, when the old 1st Infantry was .converted to the 138th Field Artillery. The battery was made up of the enlisted personnel of Companies G and H, and the Machine Gun Company of the old 1st Infantry Regiment. Its first commanding officer was Capt. George M. Chescheir, who formerly commanded the Machine Gun Company of the 1st Kentucky Infantry (1938). Among the original enlisted men of Battery F, were C. Claude Watkins, commander of 1st Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, and Capt. Stephen C. Boldt, commanding officer of Battery F.
He was commander of the battalion overseas during World War II.
