Last Rites Held for Walter Blake
Word was received by Mrs. Glenn Anderson of the death of Walter Blake, Sunday, October 22 at the Laniolu Retirement Home, Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii, where he had recently made his home. Mr. Blake was one of the early residents of Avoca and an uncle of Mrs. Anderson.

Life Story of Walter Blake
Walter Blake was born November 15, 1870, at Loveland. At the age of three years he came with his parents to Avoca where he grew to manhood when he moved to Evanston, Illinois, where he made his home most of his adult life. April 29, 1912 he was married in Evanston to Bertha Taylor, also a former Avoca resident, who preceded him in death August 19, 1954.
After his wife's death October 13, 1955, he went to Honolulu, Hawaii where he made his home with his niece, Mrs. Theo. Remaly and family, until his death October 22, 1967 at the Laniolu Retirement Home in Honolulu. Survivors include a son, Kurt Blake of Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren, a nephew, Frank Barnes of Philadelphia, Pa. and three nieces, Mrs. Theo. Remaly and Ethel Spaulding of Honolulu and Mrs. Glenn Anderson of Avoca.

Memorial Services for Walter Blake
Graveside services were held Thursday morning in Graceland Cemetery in memory of Walter Gale Blake, a pioneer Avoca resident, who died in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 22, 1967. The Rev. LaVerne Kiel of the Congregational-Presbyterian Church officiated. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Blake of Bartlesville, Okla. drove to Avoca for the services.
