Baur, Andrew N. Drew Andrew N. Drew Baur of St. Louis, died suddenly on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at age 66.
Baur is the son of the late Andrew H. Baur and the former Florence Noland. He was preceded in death by his younger brother James A. Baur and is survived by his mother Florence Noland Baur of St. Louis; sister Barbara B. Dunlap of Paradise Valley, AZ; brother Edward T. Baur of St. Louis; sons Andrew S. Baur and Richard D. Todd Baur of St. Louis; daughter McKay B. Mills of St. Louis; former wife Catherine Shelton Bollinger of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Baur enjoyed a long and successful career in banking where he was chairman of Southwest Bank of St. Louis for 26 years. He was previously Chairman and CEO of Country Bank of St. Louis and President and Chairman of Commerce Bank of St. Louis.
Beyond his banking career Baur helped organize the original ownership group that purchased the St. Louis Cardinals from Anheuser-Busch in 1996. He served as a Director of the Cardinals as well as the team's Treasurer until his death.
Most recently he served as a board member of Baker Footwear Group, Orgill Inc., and Wausau Paper. Over the years he also served on several boards including Southwest Bank of St. Louis, Marshall and Ilsley Corporation and Rawlings Sporting Goods Co., Inc.
A respected leader in the St. Louis business community Mr. Baur was equally passionate about serving his community. Mr. Baur served on the boards of the St. Louis Regional Commerce & Growth Association, The Arts & Education Council of Greater St. Louis, KETC, the Muny, St. Luke's Hospital and was commissioner emeritus of Tower Grove Park. He also served as Chair of the National Kidney Foundation and has recently been involved with Autism Speaks.
Mr. Baur attended Country Day School in St. Louis, received an A.B. degree in 1966 from Washington & Lee University and an M.B.A. from Georgia State University in 1970. He later served as a Trustee of Country Day School, Washington & Lee University and St. Louis University.
Services: A Memorial Service for the public to attend will take place at MICDS McDonnell Athletic Center, 101 N. Warson Rd. at Ladue Rd., Ladue on Friday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation , 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, Autism Speaks, 1121 Olivette Executive Parkway, Suite 220, St. Louis, MO 63132 or to the charity of your choice.
