John Dassenko, 81, passed away at his home in Kief on Tuesday, Nov 9th. Pastor John Baerg will officiate at the services in the Mennonite Brethern church in Kief, Friday, Nov 12th at 2pm. Mrs. Neil Heringer will be the organist and vocalist will be Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fandrich. Pallbearers will be Bryce Aga, Jerry Donelenko, John Dislevy, Sam Karpenko, Gene Spichke and Jack A. Michalenko. Burial will be in the Kief Cemetery. The Bethke Funeral Home of Drake are in charge of arrangements
Mr. Dassenko was born at Kiev. Russia on Feb. 24th, 1884 and came to the United States and North Dakota in 1909. He homesteaded 8 miles south of Kief in Sheridan County. He farmed here until 1932, when he retired and moved into Kief where he had made his home.
He married Matilda Sileshanko on Nov. 11, 1911 at Washburn.
Survivors are his wife, Matilda of Kief; 2 daughters, (Francis) Mrs. Sam Plesuk of Minot and (Ella) Mrs. Ed Kanko of rural Balfour; 4 sons, Mike of Minot, Levi of Puyallup, Wash., Melvin of Waukee, Iowa and Sam of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one brother, Peter of Minot.
