Zeke D. Radcliffe, age 87, longtime Tomahawk resident and formerly of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls. He had been a resident of Lakeside Nursing & Rehabilitation for three years.
Zeke was born on August 8, 1916, in Melrose to the late James and Mary Radcliffe. He was first married to Delores “Pearl” Higgins on September 17, 1935 in Tomahawk. She died in 1954. Zeke married Armella Myers on July 14, 1956, in Tomahawk. She passed away in 1997.
Zeke proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed by Owens-Illinois for 42 years as a millwright, retiring in 1978. Zeke enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was well-known in the area for his smoked fish. Zeke had also been the head cook at the McNaughton CCC camp. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Gayle) Radcliffe of Eau Claire and John (Diane) Radcliffe of Honolulu, Hawaii; one daughter, Toni (Richard) Grage of Florence, Ariz.; two stepsons, Dave (Mary Lou) Hibbard of Wausau and Robert (Pat) Hibbard of Sterling, Ill.; one brother, Ken Radcliffe of Mauston; two sisters, Betty Lifer of Wisconsin Rapids and Shirley (John) Gilles of Weslaco, Texas. Zeke is further survived by 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian burial for Zeke Radcliffe will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2003, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomahawk with Rev. Edward F. Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Tomahawk.
The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
Krueger & Sons Funeral Home, Tomahawk, is assisting the family with arrangements.
