Otto J. Arnold, 98, passed away of natural causes Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Otto was born March 4, 1908, in Glendive, Montana. His parents, Celestine Arnold and Martha (Getz) Arnold, were German immigrants who homesteaded in the Glendive area. Otto worked for 47 years as a railroad machinist in Wisconsin, Washington and Oregon. His career involved active participation as an officer in union activities. Otto retired in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Everett in 1973. And in 1993 moved close to his family in Olympia, Washington, where he resided his last 15 years.
Otto was a man of many talents; he served in the Naval Reserve, was a headline boxer, an imaginative inventor, a skilled sports fisher, a fencer, a pool player who could run the table, a card shark, a master checker player and a loving father.
