They were the parents of;
Fred Sumner, Helen A., Alice J.
The family is recorded in the
1860 & 1870 & 1880 census at Westbrook.
The 1880 census list him as being 'Helpless'.

On 11 August 1861 David enlisted for service in the Civil War.

On 23 September 1880 David was admitted
to the Disabled Soldiers Home at Togus where he remained until his death.
Cause of disability was insanity.
