Obituary

Archie M. Marcotte, 85, died peacefully Nov. 18, 2009.

He was born Aug. 20, 1924, to Archie Eugene Marcotte and Hazel Florence Mapson in Dickinson, N.D. He graduated high school in Grantsberg, Wis. Later his family moved to Livingston, Mont., where his family owned the Acreville Grocery Store on Rogers Lane. He married Helen Elizabeth Woods Dec. 7, 1956 (I believe this should be 1955 as I have a copy of the marriage certificate to verify this year). They resided in Livingston where he worked for Northern Pacific Railroad until 1975 when he moved to Havre, Mont., and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired March 20, 1986, after railroading for 43 years. He and his wife moved back to Livingston, and he resided there until 2006 when, after heart surgery, he moved to Deer Lodge, Mont., and lived with his daughter then moved into Beyond Home Assisted Living until his death. Archie enjoyed collecting Lionel trains, going to auctions and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Archie and Hazel Marcotte; and a brother, Dwight Marcotte. He is survived by his daughter, Hazel Marcotte Ehry of Deer Lodge; a sister Denise (Larry) Miller of Idaho; granddaughters, Kacie (Kory) Boggess and Kadie Ehry both of Deer Lodge; great-grandson, Keaton Lawrence Boggess; and nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Big Timber, Mont. There will be no services held. Memorials may be sent to the Yellowstone Boys Ranch or the American Heart Association.
