This is what Carl Knopp wrote in the German Bible he gave to his daughter, Marie Steingraber.
Carl and Henrietta left their homeland with a family of six children. They had lived in New Wehr, Germany since their marriage on August 10, 1869. On April 25th, 1873, they left for Bremenhafen, Germany. On April 28th, they boarded the ship "OHIO". They landed in Baltimore, Maryland on May 18, 1873. From there they traveled to Berlin, Wisconsin by way of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. There Carl Knopp worked for 5 months. During that time, Ewald, his step-son died. From Berlin they moved to Bloomfield, WI. From there they moved to the farm in Little Wolf, Section 12, Waupaca County, Wis.
