John W. Axmear, 70, of Keswick, a retired farmer died at his home in Keswick at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, after an illness of several months.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Keswick, with the Rev. Dwight C. Donham in charge and burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery, at Sigourney.
Mr. Axmear was born May 6, 1892, on a farm north of Keswick, the son of John and Codelia Wyant Axmear. His entire life was spent in the Keswick community.
He was married to Annabelle Needham of Sigourney, on January 4, 1921. They have made their home in the Keswick community since their marriage.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, he was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the White Shrine and the American Legion.
He served in the Army during World World I.
He is survived by his wife, Annabelle, two sisters, Mrs J. W. Sherwood of Sigourney and Mrs. John Rugg of Webster and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dwight Bonham was organist, and singers were George Grove and Glenn Grove.
Pall bearers were Edgar Axmear, Dale Axmear, Alex Schmidt, Tunis DeBont and Leland Wilkins. The funeral arrangement was in charge of the Powell Funeral Home South English.
