Edgar Harris Akins
Mr. Akins, of Charlotte, formerly of Winston-Salem, was born July 27, 1917 in Raeford, NC to Clyde Lavant Akins and Fairy Stanley Akins, and passed away on September 9, 2006.
He was stationed at Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, and served in combat in the Pacific Arena until he was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Akins was predeceased by his wife Eloise.
He is survived by his son David Lavant Akins and his grandchildren David Matheson Akins and Lyall Kruesi Akins of Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
A graveside service will be held at the US National Cemetery on Statesville Boulevard in Salisbury at 1 PM on Friday.
