Audrey was born September 1, 1921 in Foard City, TX to the late Lois and George Adams, Sr. She thoroughly enjoyed country and gospel music. She learned to play piano at an early age and loved being involved in the church. She continued to enjoy dancing through her 90th birthday where she celebrated with friends and family at The Senior Zone with a big cake and country line dancing. She also enjoyed following her cousin, Walter "Brother" Lyons as he played guitar throughout his career.
On September 27, 1942, Audrey married a handsome young serviceman named John Ambrose, Sr. while living in Altus, OK. They moved to Wichita Falls shortly thereafter to begin their lives together. Audrey worked as a housewife while he worked with the railroad.
Audrey was a member of Loop 11 Church of Christ for many years. In her later years, she would play gospel music on her radio in the living room and sing throughout the house. She had a love for music, cooking and church activities.
Audrey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Ambrose, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Steve McKown of Round Rock, TX; brother, Charles "Lamb" Adams of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Shawn McKown of Round Rock, TX, Shelley McKown-Kincaid and husband George Kincaid, III of Raleigh, NC and Terri Nelson of Arlington, TX; great grandchildren, Todd, Zachariah, Danielle and Brandon.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, John Ambrose, Sr., parents, Lois and George Adams, Sr., daughter, Linda Ambrose and brothers, Adrian Adams, George "Budder" Adams, Jr., Alfred "Bee" Adams and Grady Adams.
