Hamilton Branch resident Henry Neumann Mathewson, age 91, peacefully passed from this life at his daughter's residence outside of Orland, Thursday morning, Aug. 18, 2005. Henry was born to California natives William and Agusta Mathewson in San Francisco on April 29, 1914. He was raised and educated in the Bay Area and spent his life residing there until moving from Pleasant Hill to Hamilton Branch in 1971. Henry retired from Pac Tel after 34 years of loyal, dedicated and pioneering service to the company as one of their Division Plant Safety Supervisors. He was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the San Francisco Surf Club. As a member of the Roman Catholic faith, he regularly attended Mass at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Westwood. Henry is survived by his daughters, Betty Anne Mahoney of Reno, Nev., Beverlee Seale of Orland, and Roberta Mikesell of Bremerton, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was anxiously looking forward to his third great-grandchild, due in September. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Catherine, in 1998, one brother and three sisters. Following cremation at Fehrman Crematory in Quincy, a Catholic graveside blessing service took place at the Westwood Cemetery on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005.
