Services for Mrs. Obye Claudia Cooper were held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 8, 2008, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Jena, LA., the Rev. Winfred Belgard and Gay Bradford officiated. Interment will be in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery in Summerville, LA.

Mrs. Cooper worked as a Sales Person in Retail Sales, as well as a homemaker.

Mrs. Cooper, 57, of Vidalia, LA., was born June 6, 1951 in Bogalusa, LA., and passed from this life on June 6, 2008 in the Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, LA.

She is survived by her husband, John D. Cooper of Vidalia, LA.; her parents Frank Elwood and Obye Jo Simmons of Vidalia, LA.; two sons, Stephen Dale Cowan and his wife, Kim, of Vidalia, LA. and Michael Jesse Cowan and his wife, Chasity of Vidalia, LA.; one sister Derinda Smith and husband Rick of Vidalia, LA.; nine Grandchildren, Maggie Grace Cowan, Selah Marie Cowan, Cory Elwood Cowan, Reed Wilson, Hayden Garrett Cowan, Kaitlyn Jesse Cowan, Stephen Cole Cowan, Savannah Lee Cowan, and Edward Cody Cowan; seven nieces, Alicia Ann Smith, Ashley Elveston and five others; and nine nephews.

She was preceded in death by Grandparents, Joel A. and Claude (Mama Dear) Carr, Milton and Edna Simmons; Granddaughter, Sarah Marie Cowan; and Father-in-Law, E.D. Cooper
