Isaac Trout, One of Oldest Citizens, Dead
Father of Ten Children, All of Whom Are Living, Dies of Kidney Trouble, Aged 88 Years

Isaac Trout, who bore the distinction of being one of the oldest residents of this city (Elkhart, Ind.) died at 11:30 o'clock, Feb. 28, 1906, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. E. Herman of 1019 Middlebury street. His death was due to old age and kidney trouble from which he had suffered many months. He was born March 10, 1818, which would make him 88 years old on the 10th of this month. His wife is still living as are ten of their children, George M. of California; Harvey, Franklin and Frederick of Union, Michigan; Clarence of Cadillac, Mich.; Harry of Iowa; Mrs. Flora Holmes of Merrill, Mich.; Mrs. E.E. Herman, Mrs. A. Hitesman and Miss Mary Trout of Elkhart, Ind. This was one of the most vigorous families of this section of the country. The funeral of the father will be the first ever held at the Trout home. One daughter, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, is dead, but she lived until she raised a large family.

Prior to moving to Elkhart, the family had lived for 20 years in Union, Mich. They came here 19 years ago and since their residence here have won the esteem of a host of friends.

The funeral will be held from the house on Saturday morning, March 3, 1906, at 10:30 a.m., in charge of Rev. J.E. Grimes, Castle United Brethren Church.
