Manchester Telephone Worker Dies of Heart Attack
William E. Hitchcock for 34 years an employe of the New England Telephone & Telegraph company, died at his home in Manchester Center at 5:30 a.m. Sunday following a heart attack. Mr. Hitchcock was 56 years old.
He was born in Damariscotta, Me. on mar 4, 1882. As a young man he came to Manchester to work for the Telephone company in 1909 and had made his home there since that time. In 1911 he married, Miss Frances Enid Lakin of Arlington. To them were born three children, William E. of Rutland, Miss Helen Hitchcock of Norwalk, Conn. and Philip of Manchester. There are also two grandchildren, Thomas and Barbara of Rutland.
Mr. Hitchcock was a member of Zion Episcopal church and of Adoniram chapter of the Masonic lodge of Manchester.
The funeral will be held at Zion Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.J. Brown officiating.
