LORAINE, Ill. -- Alice June Cornwell, 79, of Loraine died 9:22 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 23, 2008) in the North Adams Home, Mendon. She was born July 30, 1929, in Adams County, a daughter of the late Roy T. and Alice Rose (Newell) Johnson. She married Merle Cornwell on Sept. 24, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, and he survives. Alice June graduated from Mendon High School and Carthage College. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She loved to socialize with family and friends and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's' activities. She enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and playing cards. She and Merle were not only partners in marriage but partners in life and did everything together. Also surviving are two sons, Johnson (Tammy) Cornwell and their children Casey, Dusty, Kelley, and Jacey of Mendon and Patrick (Mary Ann) Cornwell and their children Christopher, Heather, Nathan and Kayla Cornwell of Quincy SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with Bruce Willard conducting.
