Jeanette Alice Williams, 69, Iowa City, formerly of Decorah, died suddenly Friday, April 9, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
The Rev. Bryan Robertson of the Decorah Lutheran Church will officiate. Services April 13 at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, Decorah. Visitation: Noon until service time, funeral home. Burial: Freeport Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 15, 1941, the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle (Severtsgaard) Macal in Decorah. She was baptized and confirmed November 4, 1956, at the Decorah Lutheran Church.
She graduated from Decorah High School in 1959. She married Larry Martz in 1960. To this union, one son was born, Michael. They later divorced and she married Leo Williams.
She moved to Iowa City in 2005. Jeanette worked at the Oneota Care Facility in Decorah and was an in-home caregiver for many years.
She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, doing puzzles and spending time with her son and her family and friends.
She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Michael Martz and wife, Janice, Muscatine; two stepgrandchildren, Cory Church and wife, Belinda and Jessica Church; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Gabriella Church; three brothers, Edwin Macal and wife, Shirley, Decorah, Leo Macal and wife, Ardis, Decorah and Melvin Macal and wife, Nancy, McGregor; seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Myrtle Macal.
