LaVerne B. Lahners, 56, of 3934 Sheffield Ave., Hammond, died Thursday at home. He was a clerk with the Illinois Central Railroad in Chicago, a member of the Cyrene Masonic Lodge 987, Cyrene Low 12 Club, Knights of Pythias Lodge 706, Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, Local 596, all in Chicago.
Survivors are his wife, Josephine; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Podsadeck of Hammond, and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Bernard A. Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Ave., Hammond. The Rev. Ron Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
